With the first WTCC race and Australian Grand Prix now behind us, the racing season is finally started. Getting out of bed at 6 AM in the weekend is for some strange reason much easier then before. And the adrenaline seems also to flow through the veins of Twitter again. Updates on new cars, new drivers, new teams and old ones coming back to life are dominating the Twitter news. Also the annoucement of the new F2 series is adding to a good spirit. You can feel it, the spring is in the air and a new racing season is starting to bloosem. In an earlier blog, "it's almost winter, stay or go?" For some drivers it was unclear what they would do, and now we know what they have decided. Giedo van de Garde fought to get his seat in F1, knowing that it would also mean the end of his F1 career. He won, but did't get a drive. He now is focussing on GT series for 2016. Robin Frijns made a similair choice, and is now switching to GT racing in the Blancpain series. They want to race again, and hopefully enjoy it again and get the adrenaline of the race virus going again. And with the chance to be succesfull again. That in comparison to being testdriver or starting each race from the back of the F1 grid. A good choice I would say.
In order to control my own racing virus during the winter, I simply had to visit some karting racing tracks. I visited the outdoor track of Karting Centre Lelystad, it is an almost brand new track fully equiped for propper karting. When I was visiting the track it was still a bit wet, what made it even more exciting to drive. If you are looking for a real outdoor track experience, you should go and visit them. Let's hope for a great racing season and spring!
